I.11.15 Pompeii. December 2007. Room 10. Garden area with altar and painted Lararium. The Lararium painting has two large diagonal snakes, one either side of a painted round altar. Above the snakes is a garland. In the background are bushes with green leaves and red flowers. Over each bush is a fluttering bird. In front of the painted altar is a four sided real altar which was painted with red, blue and yellow spots. See Fröhlich, T., 1991, Lararien und Fassadenbilder in den Vesuvstädten. Mainz: von Zabern. The lararium painting has two large diagonal serpents, one either side of a painted round altar.

Above the serpents is a garland. In the background are bushes with green leaves and red flowers.

Over each bush is a fluttering bird.

In front of the painted altar is a four sided real altar which was painted with red, blue and yellow spots.
