III.2.1 Pompeii. December 2005. Entrance doorway. Upon excavation, and 2.60m height above the pavement level, a bronze cylindrical door-bell with iron bell-clapper (height 0.13m) was found on 3rd January 1914. According to Della Corte, the threshold of the door to this house was reached by climbing two steps of travertine.At the moment of the catastrophe in 79AD the door was closed.This was proved by the finding of the door locking apparatus (door-lock, key, door-handle and bolt) collected in the up-right of the nearby door-shutter.
