VI.14.5 Pompeii. December 2005. Looking north across atrium towards tablinum, from entrance corridor. According to Boyce, in the south wall of the atrium to the right of the entrance is a rectangular niche. It is adorned with a pediment on the wall above it, and a ledge supported by three brackets, projects on the level of the floor. These are all formed by tiles embedded into the wall and presumably all originally covered with stucco.
