VI.16.15 Pompeii. December 2006. Wall painting of The Sleeping Ariadne from the centre of the east wall of room F.  On the right Ariadne sleeps with her back to the spectators, near to her was a Bacchante. She was nude except for a peacock-blue mantle covering the lower part of her body. Around her arm was a large golden armband.  From the left arrived a Bacchante carrying a thyrsus in the left arm. See Notizie degli Scavi, 1908, (p.71-2)

According to NdS, the triclinium, although small, was rectangular with a rough floor of cocciopesto. At the time of the disaster it was receiving a more dignified decoration. Opening in the upper part of the south wall was a window with well preserved iron grating.

The lower dado was painted red. At the top of the wall was a cornice of painted stucco. In the middle of each central panel was a painting.

According to NdS, when found the table was broken in various of its foot weldings.

Following the restoration, it was put back in situ to be photographed.

It was against the north wall of the triclinium with a doorway connecting to the atrium.
