According to Mau, the floor of the atrium is made of a black mosaic with pieces of coloured marble arranged in rows, and white stripes at the edges.

According to Mau, the floor of the atrium is made of a black mosaic with pieces of coloured marble arranged in rows, and white stripes at the edges.

According to Mau, there was an alcove for a bed opposite the doorway. 
The ceiling of the alcove, in the form of a vault, was lower than that of the rest of the room.

Between the two doorways are the remains of the brick base of a shrine to the household gods. 
The doorway on the right leads to VII.6.14.

On the left of the doorway are the remains of the brick base of a shrine to the household gods. 
According to Boyce, in the north-east corner of the atrium stood a ruined brick base.
It was later in date than the stucco on the wall and is described by Fiorelli as “l’altare dei sacrifizi”.
Mau described it as “die Basis der Larenkapelle”.
