IX.8.6 Pompeii. Casa del Centenario or House of the Centenary

IX.8.6 Pompeii. W.1461. Drawing of panther, rhyton (drinking horn) and tambourine, from side panel of north wall of room 4. According to Bragantini, in the centre of the north and east wall were paintings of Artemis, or Diana. The one to the left, north wall, showed Diana with serpent in hand.

According to Bragantini, in the centre of the north and east wall were paintings of Artemis, or Diana.

The one to the left, north wall, showed Diana with serpent in hand.

According to Bragantini, de Vos, Badoni, Diana is holding a serpent in her hand. 
This photograph seems to indicate that she was, in fact, holding a bow.

According to Bragantini, de Vos, Badoni, Diana is holding a serpent in her hand.

This photograph seems to indicate that she was, in fact, holding a bow.

There would have been a painting of a flying female figure, on the north wall, to the right.

Atrium, north-west corner, between rooms 5 and 6.

According to Bragantini, there would have been a painting of a flying cupid with incense burner, on the west wall of the atrium, at the north end, to the left.

There would have been a painting of a flying female figure, on the west side of the north wall, to the right.
