Who are we?

We are a retired UK husband and wife team, Jackie and Bob Dunn. We live in the UK. This web site is a labour of love which the two of us created and maintain with our free time. We finance it entirely from our pensions and neither receive nor want any income or payments whatsoever by any means for it.

Pompeii has always intrigued Jackie.  She first went there in her teens.  Having read many books on the ancient city, she had found it most confusing when, for example two different books gave a differing location for the same property.  Many of the books only contained photos of the same well visited houses.  None showed the smaller homes and houses, which seemed ignored but just as interesting.

With husband Bob as photographer and web site developer we have built a photographic record indicating all the doorways of houses, shops, temples, workshops, bars and ancient pubs as a way to clear the mystery once and for all and provide a solid base for students, teachers, authors, museums, researchers and all to use for reference.

We will continue to update the site with more photographs from our trips to Pompeii and from our collaborators.  We are also interested in your photographs if they add something different. We would welcome any material from Museums around the world as well as any old photographs. Our aim in this respect is to relocate items with their original home, electronically only of course. Don't worry if you cannot identify the location in your photograph as we have become quite expert in identifying which property it came from.

In using this site you can see Pompeii as it really is and explore the large part of Pompeii that is closed to the public.  We are sure you will enjoy your virtual trip to Pompeii.
